Sadly, we’ve seen how traumatic events leave fear, anxiety, and heartbreak in their devastating wake. And even as the work of recovery begins, the previously comfortable sense of security is replaced by a lingering disquiet.
The bombing and subsequent events this April affected the people of Boston as a whole. Though they were shaken, their rising up to stand together in this crisis has been inspiring to the nation.
Yet as the city works toward recovery and survivors continue to heal physically, the inner wounds inflicted on the hearts and souls of the victims, their families and friends, and the residents of the area will take a long time to heal.
We would like to join in the process of healing. God’s Word provides the deep comfort, hope, and peace that heals the inward wounds of every person.
Beginning today, May 13, subway platforms and trains will display offers for a free study Bible from BfA on the two most heavily traveled subway lines (the “T”) of the Boston area. For the next eight weeks, as many as 400,000 riders a day will see ads like this one:
Several of the displays will include words from the Bible for people to read and reflect on while they travel, such as:
God has promised us eternal life (1 John 2:25)
The peace of God surpasses every man’s understanding (Philippians 4:7)
We have hope through the encouragement of the Scriptures (Romans 15:4)
The word of the Lord abides forever (1 Peter 1:25)
Our prayer is that these ads would touch people with their simple message and that many would order a free Bible from the BfA website. We pray for the people of Boston to find Christ and the real and lasting strength, hope, comfort, and love in the Word of God.
