Believers in Christ

1 Peter 5:14—“Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to you all who are in Christ.”

Note 2 on in Christ says: “Peter stressed the fact that the believers are in Christ (3:16; 5:10). It is of God and through our faith and baptism that we are in Christ ( 1 Cor. 1:30; John 3:5; Gal. 3:27; Rom. 6:3). This results in an organic union with the Triune God (Matt. 28:19) and makes us one spirit with the Lord (1 Cor. 6:17).”

Cross-reference “c” on in Christ directs us to these related verses:

1 Peter 5:10—“But the God of all grace, He who has called you into His eternal glory in Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself perfect, establish, strengthen, and ground you.”

1 Peter 3:16—“Yet with meekness and fear, having a good conscience, so that in the matter in which you are spoken against, those who revile your good manner of life in Christ may be put to shame.”

  1. This is such a wonderful amazing fact! This weekend my husband and I heard a word that “we are the corporate thorn bush as typified in the old testament,” and I have to confess that I just could not come up with an “Amen” in my spirit. In fact, quite the contrary, my spirit rose up with a “not so”…as Christ was not processed and could not be received as life into the hearts of men/women of faith in the old testament. Our mighty God had mercifully chosen the Israelites to be a people set aside for His purpose and glory. Alas, “the thorn bush”.could never be filled with His Life, thus they rejected Him when He showed up on Earth in His only Begotten Son. Significantly, a crown of thorns was placed on The Lord Jesus’s Head before he was crucified that he might become sin on our behalf…the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world. Jesus, the last Adam became a Life Giving Spirit…we, like Him, have, very miraculously become the many sons of God. We are called to walk worthy of our calling. Thankfully, we can confess and repent when the fallen self is being expressed, but the truth is….God will complete in us that which He has begun for His testimony and expression on the earth which is His builded Church…consummating in The New Jerusalem. It is So incredibly wonderful to be a part of this by His Love and Forgiveness and Grace. As a sister in Christ, I in know way regard myself as a teacher…I have received so much wonderful truth from dear brothers throughout the ages who have written down truth for us to realize through the Word of God…The Bible. I’m just confessing that my spirit could not “Amen” that we are the corporate “thorn bush”. My spirit only says “Amen” to the fact that we are a new creation in Christ Jesus our Lord.
